My 2011 Resolutions

1 Jan

This isn’t really a dilemma…I discussed the dilemma of New Years Resolutions earlier today. Either way, I figured that I should have some resolutions for the New Year…and try to follow them. So, these may not be the greatest, nor the most creative, but they definitely resemble what I’d like to do/change in 2011 (they are in no particular order).

The Dilemma (er…Resolution)

  1. Keep this blog updated every day (or just about).
  2. Hit the gym…again!
  3. Lose some of the attitude (oh boy).
  4. Be more open to other people’s thoughts…
  5. Study…study…study…
Keep the Blog Updated

Clearly this is something that should be top on my list, right? I mean, it’s not like school or family or extracurricular are important! Actually, all of those are important. But, I already am focused on those…for the most part. So, I need to focus on keeping this blog updated…daily. It might be a challenge on the nights that I’m staying up chugging away at AP US History study guides or studying for finals, but I’m up for the challenge.

Hit the Gym

I’m not one who is in dire need of working out every day, no. I mean, I definitely could afford to go there, but then again, most people can. Speaking of affording to go there, I have a membership there…so why not use it?! The problem with going to the gym is that in order for it be somewhat beneficial, I need to spend about an hour there.

That doesn’t sound that bad, I mean there are 24 hours in a day, right? Right. Except, a lot of those hours are devoted to other things like school, sleeping, studying, family, sleeping, TV, sleeping. Oh, did I mention sleeping? I know I can hit the gym, I just need to cut out some of the sleeping…and find that motivation that is typically missing for most people.

Less Attitude

I tend to be a pretty sarcastic person (as if you can’t tell). With that sarcasm also comes the attitude. Now, my attitude has improved…and my sarcasm has become less harsh…but I still have room for improvement. I tend to be a little too harsh when telling someone my honest opinion about them, which is good and bad. I’m not going to lie, but at the same time I need to realize that it’s understandable to sugarcoat things sometimes. With this, I also need to try to be less demanding of people and more understanding. It’s going to be a challenge, but I think I can work on it.

Open to Other People’s Ideas

This kind of goes along with losing some of the attitude. I have my mind set on certain things going certain ways. What I need to work on is accepting that things don’t always have to be the way I want them to be. I need to be more accepting of other people for who they are and what they want. Sometimes that can be a tough thing to do. But, through being a little more open to other people, hopefully that will help make me a better person.

Study…Study…Study

Finally, I need to focus a bit more on studying. Now, I am by no means of the imagination dumb. I’m not going to lie and say I’m a super-genius…I might be genius…but that’s probably as far as I go. With this, I sometimes feel that studying is not very essential for me. Unfortunately, studying is essential for everyone. The sooner I realize that the better off my grades will be (which aren’t very bad to begin with). Perhaps I need to replace a little bit of sleeping with a little bit of studying. It shouldn’t be too hard to do.

In Conclusion

At the end of the day, these are ideally what will change for the better in 2011. Through a bit of work and readjusting the use of my time, I should be able to successfully accomplish these goals. All it takes is some time, some hard work and some motivation.
